Rare Bringing Up Father Original Comic Strip George Mcmanus 1941 For Sale
RARE BRINGING UP FATHER original daily comic strip by the legendary George McManus! 4/14/41. Signed by McManus. This features Maggie crossing paths with the “gentleman” who tells every pretty girl he sees that she looks like Margie. This is possibly the ONLY time this nameless character was ever featured exclusively in a BUF strip. Paper size: 19 1/8" x 5 3/4". (See scans for condition of paper.). Original has yellow staining caused by the benday acetate glue used by King Features; there is also a 3/4" tear just above the 2nd panel.
This was reprinted in the 1973 book compilation, BRINGING UP FATHER, edited by Herb Galewitz, published by Charles Scribner’s Son’s, New York, appearing on page 148. A photocopy of the reprint page will be included with original (see scan below of page).
