Offered here is a very hard to find antique Sterling Silver souvenir spoon produced by Gorham in 1898. This spoon features an Eagle tip with a Bright red white and blue enamel Union Jack Flag with the Stars and Stripes US Flag followed by a crown and shield. In the bowl is a Rose and a banner with the words from the 1898 speech by Joseph Chamberlain "The Stars & Stripes and the Union Jack Should Wave Together Over an Anglo-Saxon Alliance" The back of the spoon features the Eagle and an acorn and oak leaf.
This spoon measures 6" in length and has the old Gorham Lion, Anchor, G Sterling marks and Patent date 1898. This rare spoon is in very good condition. The enamel on the Flags is perfect. There is a tiny bit of enamel wear on the shield.
