This lot has a modest reserve which I am happy to reveal upon your request. Postage for this lot is $14.95 via Priority Mail. Here is a very nice condition stereoscope known as the Knight's Cosmorama. This is circa 1850's and a beautiful example. This stands 15" tall, the box is 4 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 6 1/2". I believe the wood is mahogany, the column is known as a "Barley Twist". Brass hinge with brass edge trim down rear edges of box. Frosted glass may not be original to the scope, not sure about this. The lenses have a Gothic window shaped housing. There are two small cracks in the wood, one just above the right lens and the other just below the left lens, other than this no damage to report. The lid is hinged and has the original mirror. This viewer could be used for all stereoviews including stereo daguerreotypes. Fine focus was achieved by sliding the lens frame in and out of the box. This a very attractive and totally functional stereoscope that displays most excellent and would be a perfect addition to a stereoview collection, a most functional device. The box unscrews from the base. I cannot locate any markings. This provides a most excellent way to view your stereoviews.
