Rare Large 1873 Mintons Majolica #526 Figural Mermen Seaweed Cobalt Vase Nr:
Up for sale is a Fresh to the market items from a various Maryland estates. This is for a VERY RARE FANTASTIC & BEAUTIFUL Large Mintons English Majolica Vase. Shape #526 a figural vase with three beautiful Merman figures all holding up a large vase with green coral & a cobalt blue body. The mermen are seated at the bottom on a green textured base with shells around it. And a pink banded side. It is stamped on the bottom with the impressed Mintons mark used from 1873-1880's along with the shape number 526 & the Mintons Dating cypher of a circle with lines coming off of it used in the year 1873. It is a well known but RARE Majolica piece made by them. One of a few different forms with the Mermen. The vase is amazing but is sold as-is with damage. The vase was one a lamp I am assuming because there is a hole in the bottom of the vessel body & a filled hole along the bottom side of the foot pictured, one of the mermen has some very professional repairing to it. One merman has a chip to his forehead near his hair. And about 2/3 of the rim is broken and partially repaired. Most of it is there with only a couple small slivers missing. So it could still be professionally repaired. A great piece highly sought after and sure to be a good deal even with the damage. Identical examples professionally repaired hasve sold at sale for $1500-$2200. It measures 16-5/8" by 11-1/2".
