High Style Monumental Laurel Lamp - circa late \'50\'s / early 60\'s.
This large and wildly sculptural lamp is a complex design consisting of polished walnut, shiny brass, cream enameled metal and glass cylinders.Very heavy and roughly 46 inches tall. (the shade is for display, and not included).What\'s great about this type of lamp is you have some \'control\' over the height.......the brass rod which holds the shade/finial, can be easily replaced with a shorter one.
The lamp has a whopping 6 sockets.Interesting to note, that Stiffel produced a near identical lamp, sans the glass cylinders and walnut.
Condition:Excellent condition. No tarnish on brass.....and no scratches on walnut. Minor paint loss on top socket platform.One of the \'candle\' holder sockets seems a little loose. Excellent cosmetic and working condition.As a mid century lamp lover, collector and seller, my philosophy is simple and two pronged;1) RARITY AND BEAUTY
One can easily buy a great $1000 contemporary lamp from Holly Hunt or Circa lighting, or Flos (to name a few) but the lamps I sell
will never be produced again and I appreciate their rarity.
2) HONESTY
I never sell \"Frankenstein\" lamps (odd pieces slapped together, slathered in new paint (oddly enough usually fire engine red) and passed off as having an exotic (usually Italian, or Gino Sarfatti ) origin.
