This is a rare early modern lamp design! Today we have crossovers
that are halfway between a passenger car and an SUV.
In the late forties and early fifties designers were crossing
over the rich deco aesthetic with the new \'modern, mid century\' style!
This lamp is a great example of this blend of accentuated form,
rich wood and yet the simplicity demanded by mid century modern
style - a true crossover lamp that embodies the best of both styles!Bruce Industries was a lighting company based in Philadelphia Pennsylvania
through the mid century period. They specialized in wood lamps, often
the new Danish Modern styles which were in vogue after the war
and had a unique relationship with freelance designers. They were never
as popular as Laurel, Stiffel or other high end light manufacturers,
but they had a big following in the region and some spectacular
designs emerged from their workshop!This is an amazingly clean designed lamp made of wood throughout
and features a white fabric shade. The forms are clean geometric designs
that grab and holds the eye. Lamp is in very good condition! Light wear to wood.
