Rare Old Antique German Patriotic Derby Hat Christmas Tree Ornament, Ca. 1885 For Sale

EXTRA-RARE Old Antique German Christmas Tree Ornament, a Colorful, Fancy PATRIOTIC DERBY HAT, Circa 1885. This delicate, early hand-blown hat ornament is the actual BOOK EXAMPLE of the hat pictured on page 134 of John Lightner's reference book on antique Christmas ornaments. The hat is 2 3/4" wide and 2" tall. CONDITION: The exterior paint is very nice for the age of the ornament, with some minor wear. There IS a nice glass pike under the metal cap. The paint on the INSIDE of the hat has been professionally sealed to prevent deterioration, as it was flaking. This is an EXTREMELY RARE old German ornament and well worth preserving. There may be only a handful of these old delicate hats that still survive today! It is also neat that this hat ornament is an actual book example, since many people like to own the exact example that appears in a published, well-known antique Christmas reference book!
