Rare Prisoner Of War Miniature Model Ship Early 19th Century Pow With Glass Case:
A rare miniature prisoner of war model ship
From the Napoleonic wars
Here is a wonderful miniature model ship made by a French prisoner of war who was held in England during the Napoleonic wars in the early part of the 19th century. It with a matchingstand to support the ship and is protected with an antique glass case.It is nearlythree inches long from the tip of the bowsprit to the end of the base and two inches tall. The glass case is about five inches tall. This is a very difficult prisoner of war ship to find in this very small size. The last one I saw like this was over twenty five years ago.
This miniature pow three mast ship is very nicely made, with excellent rigging, three lifeboats, achor, and 18 gunsshowing fromeach side of thehull, possibly made of brass. A very attractive miniature ship model and very rare.
I purchased this miniature French prisoner of war model shipseveral years ago from awell knowndealer in Europe and will supplythe bill of sale as provenance.
