Authentic Rare Mayan Maskette, sourced in the Highlands of Guatemala. This is a VERY old bead, as can be seen from both the patina and the stringing hole wear. It is back drilled for wearing. It is crafted of a very hard stone type. It could be an impure jadeite or a hard greenstone. You will see in the first photo that the right eye has an area of very green jadeite, so it is possible that the rest of the bead was made from the outer portion or crust of the jadeite stone.
