This very special sale offers a rare matched set of six (6) Victorian Watson Co. gold washed sterling silver Mount Vernon pattern ice cream spoons circa 18907. This very rare and highly collectible approximately 111 year oldset isoffered in excellent antique condition with light overall wear consistent with age & use and no monograms!
Watson Company of Attleboro, Mass. traces it's roots back to 1874 when the company was founded by Clarence L. Watson, Fred Newell, Charles Cobb, Samuel Gould and W. A. Battey. The Company was absorbed by R. Wallace & Sons in 1955. Each stunning ice cream spoon is 4 3/8" long and weighs approximately 14.3 grams, give or take. Total weight of the set of six is 84.3 grams fine sterling silver. The pattern is exceptionally beautiful with very little wear given their extreme age of right around 111 years. A light gold wash remains on each & every beautifully decorated and elegantly shaped bowl. Each spoon is free of any monograms. Fully hallmarked at the back of the handle with the Watson stamp and "STERLING" in a long cartouche as seen in the photographs.
