GJPaw salesis pleased to bring to a RARE OFFERING of African Art & Cultural Artifacts from the estate of a well-known Chicago collector.
salesis very pleased to offer a Chinese Ru-Style Porcelain Vase. The vase is potted of a compressed globular form known as a "mallet" shape. This form, also known as the hand bell shape, was created to represent the archaic influence of early Chinese bronze-work on later porcelain. This particular vase is glazed with a very thick blueish celadon crackle glaze known as Ru. Ru wares range in color from white to a deep robin's egg blue and were created during the Northern Song Period for Imperial use.
This vase measures 5.5 inches across tall (13.97 cm), and is in very good condition with three spur marks to the base. Similar vases are now selling for significant sums at major sale houses like Christie's & Sotheby's, and they are becoming increasingly harder to find, so we are very pleased to be able to bring this item to in a sale. It is the perfect addition to any Chinese ceramics collection. It was originally collected in China many years ago and comes from an important collection in Chicago.
