Rare Solid Sterling Silver Zulu South Africa Souvenir Spoon 1899 Antique:
A rare and unusual Victorian solid sterling silver South African souvenir spoon. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1899 with the maker’s marks being WHL for W H Lyde. It has been superbly made having its bowl engraved South Africa (possibly for the visitors associated with the Boer War) and the terminal in the form of a Zulu (clearly designed by someone who had never seen a Zulu warrior). It is in super condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. It measures 4.25 inches (10.8cms) long by 1 inch (2.5cms) wide and weighs 11 grams. A very unusual example.
