Rare State Of West Virginia Civil War Discharge Medal For Honorable Service 1865 For Sale
An original bronze "HONORABLY DISCHARGED" medal given to veterans of the Civil War from the STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA for honorable service circa 1865. The recipient's name is engraved along the edge of the medal, and reads as having been given to "Adam R. Davis, Company I, 6th Cavalry Regiment". Overall size 1 5/8" x 3" including ribbon, very good condition with normal aging....The 6th Cavalry Regiment originated in 1861 as the 3rd Regiment of Infantry, and was reorganized in 1864 as the 6th West Virginia Cavalry. The unit had an extensive battle record through the conflict. Needs further research, and belongs in any Civil War collection .... Guaranteed original....$3.00 shipping...........
