RARE Silver Pocket Watch Football Army Cup 1890 Inscription Winners Black Watch
Description :On offer is truly rare and special solid silver pocket watch, with both Army and early football collecting interest. The finely engraved inscription to the dust cover shows that it was presented to Corporal W Reynolds from The Officers of the Black Watch Winning Football Team Army Cup 1890. As shown here - ( http://www.armyfa.com/cups ) this would have been for the 1889/90 season when the 2nd Battalion Black Watch beat the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards by a score of 3-1. This being only the second final in the history of the Army Cup, a competition which is still played today. And of course in the 19th Century Army teams were at the forefront of British Football - The Royal Engineers, Chatham were in the first three FA Cup finals (1873-75).

The watch itself is in good cosmetic condition with a solid Swiss 935 silver case and a movement marked WJ Fletcher 11 Royal Avenue Belfast. Unfortunately it is being sold as a non runner.
