DESCRIPTION If you are a lover of interesting and unusual vintage and antique jewelry, you've come to the right place. I try to keep a nice mix of fine and costume pieces that range in age from 19th century Victorian to late 20th century vintage designer couture. I'm currently on a rather extensive buying trip and am pleased to say that I've found many exceptional pieces. Up for sale is a rare and extremely impressive antique Chinese necklace circa early1900's. The necklace has a fantastic look and features a chain of malachite and salmon coral beads with carved carnelian and gray-green turquoise dangles. The three central gilt metal pieces appear to be in the form of stylized moths. You will note that each has a swastika at the center. In buddhist culture the swastika(also known as the heart of buddha) is a symbol of eternity, prosperity, and long life(the symbol was completely demonized in Western culture by Hitler and the Nazi party). The necklace measures approx 30" long with the bib area measuring approx 6" long x 5 1/2". The condition is very fine with light signs of wear consistent with age.
