This is a rare chance to own an original piece of a World War Two USN Consolidated PBY Catalina Seaplane. This landing gear door is still painted blue on the outside and inside with the original paint. This landing gear door is in excellent condition. On the inside it is marked with the aircraft part number.The door is 22 x 17 x 4 inches and weighs 5 pounds. The PBY Catalina seaplane was designed as a ASW and search and rescue patrol aircraft. Its large size allowed it to stay aloft for long periods at a time. The PBY was was the patrol aircraft that found the Japanese fleet during the famous Battle of Midway. The PBY was also flown by the USCG, US Army Air Force, the Canadians, New Zealand, Australia, Dominican Republic and the British. It was also called the 0A-10A, the Black Cat, and the Canso.
