Rare Wwi Model 1918 Austrian Austro-hungarian Steel Helmet -- L@@k For Sale
RARE MODEL 1917
AUSTRIAN STEEL HELMET
WITH SCARCE "HUNGARIAN" 1918 SUSPENSION SYSTEM
Super example. World War I Austrian Model 1917 Steel Helmet with the super-scarce 1918-pattern suspension system. 100% original. Commonly referred to as the "Hungarian" Model by helmet collectors, this helmet was produced by the Austro-Hungarian Government in the last year of the war. It was a standard Austrian Model 1917 Steel Helmet, but with a distinct variation of the liner system, i.e. the chinstrapassembly attached directly to the liner frame. The tell-tale sign are the tiny rivets located high on the helmet exterior sides, just beneath the air plugs (See photos). Great specimen -- original Austrian earth-brown paint is 85-90% intact. Leather liner is complete -- not pulled or torn. Leather is soft and supple. Original tie string. Missing all three pads. Cloth chinstrap and buckle mechanismare complete. Clean and tight -- no rust issues. Has the Berndorf Factory "Bear" logo stamped inside the rear of the metal skirt. These helmets were produced in very limited quantities, and seldom appear on the market. An above-average example of a super rarehelmet.
