Offered is a very rare WWI U.S. Marine Corps medal and document group to Private John Avis, 76th Company, 6th Marines, who was killed in action on November 1, 1918 during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive...just 10 days before the war ended! The group includes the shipping tube for his War Service Certificate, the actual War Service Certificate, his French Death Accolade certificate, the English translation for the French Death Accolade, his AEF Death Commemorative certificate, his rare Marine Corps Death Accolade certificate, the transmittal letter for his WWI Victory Medal (authorizing the Aisne, St. Mihiel and Meuse Argonne bars), his actual WWII Victory Medal (with the correct bars matching the letter...the ribbon is worn and the wrap brooch and bars are loose) and his super rareTelegram announcing his death (this is the first group I have ever had that included the original telegram!). As you can see in the pictures, the paper items show appropriate age with toning, folds and edge chips (the French Death Accolade shows the most age). A truly rare group that need further research, professional framing and display. Please email me with any questions. Buyer pays postage and insurance (included in the postage total). Thank you for looking and good luck collecting!
