You turn the ring around the lens to advance the film and cock the shutter! The shutter works but has not been tested for accuracy. The Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 2.8/50mm lens is clear and interchangeable. The focus ring is very tight but does turn, probably from lack of use. This camera shows very light wear and looks beautiful. The viewfinder is crystal clear. The Q1 stamp on the face of the lens and inside the camera denotes that it was of highest quality from East Germany to be exported. This camera has not been tested and is sold AS-IS.I DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT ANY OF THIS EQUIPMENT IS USABLE AND IT IS FOR YOUR STATIC DISPLAY.I make no guarantees that used or vintage camera equipment is working at original factory specifications. Equipment is not film tested.
