An original printed and manuscript completed Revolutionary War pay document from the State of Connecticut Pay-Table Office, the department charged with the responsibility of paying the state's debts for the war. This pay order is dated April 19, 1782, and directed to John Lawrence, State Treasurer, for payment of over Ten Pounds to James Prin, probably for supplies for the army. Signed by William Mosely and Fenn Wadsworth for the Pay-Table, and approved and countersigned by MAJOR GENERAL JEDEDIAH HUNTINGTON. Size 5 1/2" x 6 3/4", folds, hand made rag paper, docketed and endorsed on reverse, very good condition....JEDEDIAH HUNTINGTON [1743-1818] was a Norwich, Connecticut merchant and patriot and Major General of the Continental Army. He served at Bunker Hill, Long Island, New Jersey, and commanded on the Hudson River. He was a member of the military tribunal that condemned Major John Andre to death for spying. After the war, he was Collector of Customs at New London, Connecticut, for many years. He was the son of Major General Jabez Huntington.....Guaranteed original......$4.00 shipping......
