Vintage print of Bobby Jones!
This print is very rare. This is a print of the famous painting that Dwight D. Eisenhower painted of Robert Tyre Jones Jr. Very great condition with no damages. I bought it framed under glass, so it was well protect over the years. It has some natural aging to it, but still looks great.
Included in the sale is the following:
Presented here is one of the most famous golf prints of all-time. Amazingly, the painting which inspired this print is more famous for the person who copied the painting than the one who first painted it. While this painting of Bobby Jones was first created by portrait painter Thomas Stevens, Stevens encouraged President Dwight D. Eisenhower to take up painting and this was one of the General's first completed works. As reported by TIME Magazine, President Eisenhower presented the painting to Bobby Jones on Saturday, March 7, 1953 after spending 6 weeks working on the project. The humble Eisenhower did not think much of his painting, and described his painting ability as "awkward" in that presentation ceremony. But, apparently, Bobby Jones was very fond of the gesture by the great President. This print has some natural aging to it, but no attempt has yet been made to professionally restore it, and it still remains a stunning original example of this famous painting. The original painting hangs at Augusta National. DIMENSIONS: WIDTH: 16+3/8" HEIGHT: 14" The dimension of the print not counting the white border around it is: WIDTH: 13+1/4" HEIGHT: 10+1/2" Thisprint has been kept under glass its entire life. I removed it from the glass for sale on . The frame that I bought it in is an inexpensive frame and not in perfect shape so I am just selling the print. I did remove the print and could not find any additonal information on the back. I honestly don't know anything about it, but it looks very old. It would make a great display item. The print has some natural aging to it, but is still in excellent condition. Print was not actually signed by the president. I also have a Robert T Jones Spaldingvintage iron in my stock room. Just let me know if you win and might want this to add it to your picture display and we can work out a fair price on the club. I would have to ship the club seperate of the picture due to their package sizes. If you have any questions or need more pictures -feel free to email me and I'll try to help as much as possible.
