Gorgeous masterpiece leather binding! With a beautiful hand-painted panel set into the front cover. In full white leather with raised bands, gold lettering, and gold page edges. Painting depicts the virgin Mary with a snake and apple. End papers and inside covers in a silk fabric with gold borders. Illustrated with many woodcuts and full page plates. Interior pages are in excellent condition; binding with only light shelf wear; boards are bowed, quite possibly from being painted. Housed in a wooden box with push in latch. Box recently re-covered in a medieval pattern design. Amazing antique for the collector of unique one of a kind items!
