Roseville Pottery Aztec Vase 1905 Geometrical Squeezebag Motif Arts & Crafts Era:
Wonderful and scarce, this Roseville Aztec piece was individually decorated in Art Nouveau or geometrical squeezebag (tube-line) motifs. The decorations were hand applied in complementary matte colors. The blue color and glaze on this piece is outstanding. The blue is a rich almost colonial blue color with off white, orange and green decorations. Aztec was an early line and was introduced in 1905. The vase measures 10 1/2" tall x 4" across the base and 3 3/4" across the top rim. It is in excellent condition for it's age. The piece has 2 very small flaws; there is an extremely tiny place on the outside top rim that appears to me to be a factory glaze miss, it doesn't have an indent like a chip would and it isn't rough, it looks as though the glaze just missed that spot. I've shown the place in the last picture. There also is a very tiny chip on the bottom outside edge. The chip looks larger in the pictures than it does in real life. There is a factory midway down the vase where it looks like someone put their hand on the vase before it was dry. I've shown that in the pictures as well. This is a beautiful, very old piece of Aztec in very good condition for it's age. No other cracks, chips of flaws other than what I previously mentioned. Shipping insurance included in the price. This vase lists in the book for 350-480 depending on condition.
