Rare, Pre-war 1939 D-28 Martin Herringbone Acoustic Guitar:
1939 Martin D-28 with herringbone trim, serial number 72834. Beautiful/original Brazilian Rosewood finish on back and sides - worth the price of admission alone. Sweet sounding guitar when I purchased it 39 years ago - much improved now. Pre-war Martin instruments are sought after by professional musicians for their deeper, richer harmonics andhigher volume capability than most newer instruments. This one has original tuning machines. Top finish has some crazing - does not affect the sound. Actionis fully adjustable to buyer preferencesby any authorized Martin service shop. Pera nearby Martin service shop, the bridge saddle is leaning toward the rosette and canbe easily adjusted. Top was replaced early 1970's by authorized Martin service shopfor formerowner prior to my purchase. Lifton hardshell case included. Buyer pays shipping. *** Due to rarity and value of instrument, please contact seller prior to shipping to verify shipping method (ground, 3 day, etc.) / cost and allow 7 days before it's shipped as a wood case will be constructed by UPS to assure shipping safety for both guitar and guitar case.On Apr-29-13 at 07:27:31 PDT, seller added the following information:PLEASE IGNORE SHIPPING CALCULATOR AS THIS GUITAR WILL HAVE TO BE CUSTOM CRATED BY UPS AND INSURED ABOVE UPS DEFAULT AMOUNTS.
