Title : Rare 14K GOLD Double Hunter Lady’s Pocket Watch BEZANSON Sydney Cape Breton 1890

Description : A rare 14K gold lady’s double hunter pocket watch, the gold case front with fancy script monogrammed initials showing AEJ; the white porcelain front marked with the name Charles Frankl, who we have been able to find nothing about but suspect he was a watch seller, possibly in the Maritime region of Canada; the back opens and is marked Sovereign 14K 25 Years Guarantee 64912, the inside back case then opens to reveal the movement which is marked K. Bezanson, Sydney, C.B. and is also marked 15 Jewels.

Maker : the watch movement was manufactured by K. Bezanson of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; McAlpine\'s Nova Scotia Directory of 1907-08 for the city of Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia shows a BEZANSON F C & CO, Watchmakers, jewellers and opticians, of 289 Charlotte St.; we assume K. Bezanson was a member of this family of watchmakers.

Age : circa late 1800’s

Size : measures 1 ½ inches wide and weighs a total of 55 grams

Condition : In wonderful condition the watch still works and appears to keep time rather well, dial has one small dark line near the edge which we believe to be a crack in the porcelain dial but this is hard to see; case is free of any damage or dents or bumps and has a lovely patina with the gold have a slight pink hue to it.
