Rare 1836 John Ridgway Giraffe Purple Transferware 15" Platter Staffordshire For Sale
This is a John Ridgway & Co. Giraffe transferware platter. It is registered 1836 and measures 15" wide X 12 3/4" tall. It was made ca. 1836 in recognition 3 giraffes brought to the London Zoo (in 1836) from the Sudan. There are no chips. There is some minor crazing, a few scratches, some minor discoloration (spotting) and one hairline crack that measures about 3" long. All in all, this is in GREAT condition for being over 150 years old! Please see photos for an accurate appraisal. Feel free to ask questions!
