A rare 18th c Antique Miniature Sampler in unrestored condition, ready for a tlc. conservation project, in a lovely quality Antique oak wooden frame.
This miniature sampler has wonderful fine quality stitch work which has to be viewed close up to be fully appreciated. However it has suffered over the years and has areas with old hand stitched repairs which were done a very long time when set onto linen and set or reset into its frame. Please study photos to assess condition.
It would make an interesting conservation project and benefit from being set on sympathetically chosen linen and placed more squarely into its frame. The frame is sound and in good condition, and is included in the sale,and its scale suits the sampler very well. Lots of potential.
Offered with a low start to reflect condition. It is still a lovely piece of 18th c social history to own, created by Prudence in 1796.Prudence has also stitched her surname - possibly Goulitone? Please see photos.
