Rare 1930s Saalheimer & Strauss Germany Tin Litho Wind-up Motorcycle W/ Sidecar For Sale
Vintage & very rare early 1930s German tin lithographed wind-up toy motorcycle with 2 riders and an enclosed sidecar. #14 by SAALHEIMER and STRAUSS. The toy measures 3.38 inches long and 1.88 inches tall. Tin Success Cord tires. The clockwork mechanism works - when wound up it moves in a large circle. It is marked Germany, and the gas tank is marked with SS on both sides of the tank.Good used condition: there are numerous small chips in the finish and surface scratches. The tires are worn. The halves of the rear motorcyclist do not quite line up, and I think it is a manufacturing issue. The gears look clean. A key is not included. I have tried to show all conditions in the photos.
