Early rare stoneware jar made by Russell Elsworth and Calvin Boynton between 1825 - 1829. The intense cobalt blue design is a frame that helda paper label used by the merchant who purchased this piece to advertise and sell it's contents. The cobalt blue is vivid. This intensity is not common on early pieces.Condition is excellent with no hairlines, cracks or repairs. There are three minor shallow base flakes on the backside base. There is a tiny stone pop on the upper back and a drying lineon the interior bottom that you can see in the next to last photograph. This is a drying line thatwas in the making of the jar and does not go through. The jar is water tight. This piece is rare and you will not likely see another one. Jar is remarkably tall and slender. Splays outward bottom to top like a vase. Cobalt blue is bright and shiny as is the salt glaze on the body of the jar. Jar has a nice ring to it. Payment through Palpal or personal check. Shipping is to customers in lower 48 states. No international shipping of this piece of stoneware. Shipping is flat: $25.00. Shipping is UPS Ground insured with tracking.
