Rare ART DECO VINTAGE 3 PIECE Solid Silver CRUET SET Hallmarked Sterling 1961 NR
STUNNING CASED SET - 2 1/4 troy oz. - Walker & Hall
This is a super vintage ART DECO THREE piece solid sterling silver cruet set consisting of a pepperette, a mustard pot and a salt pot with solid sterling silver spoons and Bristol blue glass linersthat was made in Sheffield, England in 1961 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Walker & Hall at their Howard Street workshops. The pepperette measures2 3/4" high by 1 1/4" in diameter. The salt pot measures 1 1/8" high by 1 5/8" in diameter. The mustard pot stands2" high, 1 5/8" in diameter and is 2 3/8" long including the handle. The salt and mustard spoons are 2 1/8" and 2 3/4" long respectively. The quality shows in the weight -72.1 grams (without the liners) - well over 2 1/4/4 troy oz.
This set is in very good condition considering its50 years of use - all pieces have just the usual light surface scratching, NO distortion andNO splits or repairs and just a few dings and dents - this is a quite delightful set. The liners are well fitting with NO chips, cracks or repairs. Each of the three main pieces is hallmarked W&H, anchor,lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),L or Mshowing that they were hallmarked in Birmingham in 1961. The salt and mustard spoons are hallmarked for Birmingham 1960 and 1977 respectively. It comes in its original brown leatherette box which in lined with cream silk and black velvet and is in very good condition. A VERY RAREART DECOSET IN SUPER CONDITION AFTEROVER 50YEARS.
