Rare American Gold Sailing/Yachting Medal. Lipton Cup 1906. George R. Peare.:
$124.32

Very rare and historic American gold & enamel yachting medal won by famous yachtsman George R. Peare who won the annual inshore yachting races, the Lipton Cup, in 1906 in his sloop \"Cherry Circle\". The front of the medal is embossed \"CHICAGO ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION 1890\" and bears the crest of the association. The obverse is engraved \"Geo. R. Peare. Lipton Cup Races 1906\".
Weight: 11.3 gm. Diameter: 27 mm. Material: It looks like the medal has been stamped \"10k\" for 10 carat gold but the stamp is worn. It is possible that the front and back of the medal are solid gold with a sandwich of base metal. It is not stamped GF for gold filled but due to the lack of firm evidence I cannot confirm it to be solid gold and will leave it to potential buyers to make their own minds up.
Maker: Dieges & Clust, 103 Randolph Street, Chicago (see stamp).
Summary: A rare piece of American sailing history! I am happy to start the offerding at just £99.99 with . Good luck with offerding!
