Rare Antique German 1 Quart/litre Butter Churn, Old Kitchen Utensil Egg Beater For Sale
This sale is for rare and unique German one liter/quartchurn/mixer in very good condition. While this is a one liter/litre mixer I've had it in my one quart collection of glass churns/mixers for several years since the jar is the same height as a one quart Daisy. This neat old churn is shown on page 162 (FIG. 13-64, 3rd from left) of Don Thornton's "The Eggbeater Chronicles" 2nd edition. It must be faily rare since its valued there at $450. I would guess it dates to the1920's. The overall height is 13 1/4" tall andthe details of the mechanism and jar are as follows:
· The topcast section is invery goodcondition and still has about 50 to 60% of the original copper colorremaining. It turns very easily and the wooden handle has no cracks. The lid is pretty clean with light corrosion. It is hard to see, butit has "1L" on the upper back of the frame. The butterfly wooden beater is in very good condition.
· The Jar measures 7" tall, and 3 1/2" dia. and is also very good condition with no cracks or chips. It does have a number of rim flakes, which I've tried to show in the last picture (If you zoom in you can see better)(neither the inside or outside of the rim is beveled, and beveling was done to prevent flaking). The only markings are "1L"on the bottom. This is a nice example of this type of churn.
If you haven't been a customer of mine before;I offer unique to rare quality primitives at modest starting prices and I like to group items to save my customers on shipping costs (because I normally undercharge for shipping costs I generally can't afford to provide combined shipping). I try to sellold items dating prior to 1950 and generally prior to 1930. When the dates of origin are not marked on an item I provide my best guess based on my years of experience. If anyone has documented date information on anything I list please provide it and I will pass it along. Thanks for your interest in this sale and be sure to check out my others. I hope you will add me to your favorites.

Someone asked a question about the jar outside diameter/lid inside diameter and here's my response. "Looks like the outside of the jar threads is 3 1/4". It seems to be the same as a one quart Daisy Churn jar I have and plan on selling in a week or two. I tried it on the Daisy jar and the threading seems to match, even though the Daisy jar has a longer collar before the threading starts.

Also: I said in the description the jar is 3 1/2" dia., but I meant to say 3 1/2" square (each side measures 3 1/2"). Sorry if that confused anyone.
