This is an RARE antique set of fine gold plate military officers buttons from the Civil War Era/WWI. They are engraved on the underside of the buttons: \"SCOVILL MFG. CO. WATERBURY, CONN.\" This set of five approx. 7/8\" and two 5/8\" Eagle/Anchor (NAVY) are in NEW condition as they have not been used and still in original jewelers box which has been packed away for (approx.) 100 yrs. The leather covered metal box has black velvet and satin lining and is stamped: \"FRANK THOMAS CO. NORFOLK, VA. FIRST QUALITY GOLD PLATE BUTTON SET\". I couldn\'t find the exact button anywhere on the web. These 13 star buttons have left facing eagles which are believed to be from the mid 1800\'s to the very early 1900\'s. The top rope loop of the shorter anchor is not around the outside rope ring as most are, it is in the row with the stars. The wings have three rows of feathers and the eagle\'s head is more rounded than the ones I have researched. Please view the photos for details.Thank you for looking.
