Rare Antique White & Co. Binghamton Stoneware Batter Jug- Heavy Cobalt Design :
Antique White & Co. Cobalt Decorated Batter JugEstate FreshThis wonderful antique batter jug is heavily decorated with Roosters and floral designs in cobalt and rust/brick red. Impressed mark reads White & Co. Binghamton. I did a little research and found other stoneware pieces made by the White company which were dated in the 1860's with a N.Y. origin. As to condition there is a chip on the rim, visible in the first picture and a couple of small chips to the base. The applied handle on the back of the jug has chipping underneath and a crack that runs from the handle down and midway through the bottom where itfans out about an inch. Overall good used condition. A fantastic piece of American history. Displays beautifully. Meas. approx. 9"h and 6-3/4" across the base. Please ask questions before offerding. Thanks for visiting and good luck to those who offer. Package insured and tracked within the U.S.
International packages shipped Priority only in order to be insured, customs forms marked merchandise, thanks for understanding. On Jul-13-13 at 15:10:05 PDT, seller added the following information:I just had an inquiry as to whether or not the design is underglaze. Part of the cobalt around the spout, applied handle and loops that hold the bail handle is underglaze. The roosters and flowers are not underglaze. This is an estate find and I have no way of knowing at what point the piece was painted.
