You\'re offerding on a cool, rare-to-find antique stoneware jug - grey with brown glazed top, and a raised medallion shaped like maybe an animal pelt, with \"Whitton & Ashley - Lincoln\" embossed branding. Whitton and Ashley was a Lincolnshire, UK dealer in wine, spirits and beer in the late 19th-early 20th century. I\'m guessing this to be either a wine or spirits jug - it\'s 10 1/2\" tall, about 6\" diameter and appears to be maybe two quart capacity. I\'m guesstimating this to be circa 1890s based on appearance - maybe earlier.
Note some issues of condition - there is a chip at the top edge of the spout (see photo) with some glaze crazing around the mouth. Some soil and a few other crazed spots around the body, and an edge chip on the foot of the bottle. Overall, though, great presentation and appeal, and I have not been able to find another example quite like it.
