Rare Antique Mantle Bracket Shelf Gothic Ghs Cuckoo Clock Running Bone Hands For Sale
A rare mantle key wind cuckoo clock in running condition. CLock movement has been cleaned and oiled and is running and keeping good time. Movement is a balance wheel hairspring marked G. H. S. 14. Clock strikes on the half hour and at the top of the hour for the appropriate amount of hours. Has no gong hammer only cuckoo call on the strike. Bellow tops have been replaced in the past. Back door is a replacement cut down piece from another cuckoo, but does fit and serves the purpose of keeping the dust out. Numerals appear to be original except for the 5 and the 7 next to the key winds, they might have never exsisted at all. Hand carved bone hands appear to be original, the minute hand has some discoloration at the base of the hand. Clock case could use a few stain touch ups and and the crown is missing (if it ever had one). Small roof above cuckoo door was missing one side, i fabricated and stained a small piece and it matches very well. Side doors are chipped where handles once where. I was going to replace the side doors with antique ones that i have, but i will leave that up too new owner. I have another Gordian Hettich and sohn cuckoo and the stamp on the movement matches this one. I have to wind this clock every 3 days, so i am assuming thats how it lasts. Nice articulated wood bird with flapping wings. Door slowly opens starting at 10 minutes before the strike, then at the half and full hour deep cuckoo call and door closes. Measures 10 3/4 inches tall, 8 3/4 inches wide and 6 1/4 inches deep. This is the first mantle cuckoo i have ever had out of hundreds of wall ones. This is a must for the cuckoo collector, and with a little more touch ups, it could be pristine. Balance wheel has to be spun slightly to get this clock started after it has wound down, and movement has a time adjustment lever on it. Clock might need slight adjustment after shipping, but it is running nice for me wherever i have placed it. I will pack this clock with the utmost care, as that it arrives to winning buyer just as i have it. Clock ships to the lower 48 states only. Please ask questions about this rare mantle cuckoo, and see my other clock sales.
