Articles include Jean Toomer's As the eagle soars, "Negro editors on Communism, an extraordinarily discussion by leaders of Negro opinion," a survey of changing conditions in the South, Postscript by Du Bois covering Einstein,Florence Kelley, and public health.This issue is very rare because during this time period, the magazine had only 10 thousand issues in circulation and sold a couple of thousand copies each month. At the magazine's peak from 1919 to 1926, over 100,000 copies were in circulation and it sold from 50,000 to over 85, 000 copies each month.
