Pottery, located in Flemington, New Jersey from 1910 to 1929, created some of the most memorable ceramic
lamps that were illuminated by electricity. Their figural
boudoir lamp depicting a pantalooned and masked
Harlequin is prized by Fulper collectors today. It is the
translucency of the ceramic, lit from within, along with the colorful
and almost kitschy look of the figure, that makes this lamp so precious – who
can resist an illuminated and glowing skirt and pantaloons? The Harlequin lady boudoir lamp was originally calledThe
Mask Boudoir Lamp No. 331and
it was marketed in the 1920s.
William Fulper died in 1928 & sadlyhis
pottery burned to the ground in 1929.

Inside the shade (out of view) there has been a
professional repair where the potteryholds one of the metal arms;
the mechanismthat grasps the bulb is strong and structurally sound.
