Rare Breyer Prototype Model Shire "othello"/"winter Song" Kathleen Moody No Res:

This prototype casting is made of artist resin, out of the original mold. Produced by DaBar Enterprises, a casting company that molded prototypes for Breyer, as well as resin editions by model horse artists. Part of the working agreement with Breyer was that we could keep a resin prototype of each job, as part of our archives/collection, and show it in our portfolio. When we dissolved the AZ location, the partners split the archives three ways and I am selling only my personal allotment of DaBar prototypes.
Originally issued as a much smaller porcelain, "Othello", this is the solid resin prototype, and it is HUGE. It was later used to make the Traditional plastic Breyer, starting with "Winter Song" in 2007.
As we sent only the best castings on to Breyer for their molding and painting needs, our archive castings are usually imperfect. This casting has a slightly misaligned seam along the back, bubbles in the mane tips (missing ends), and resin poured into some areas to fill other air pockets. It is the same resin the horse was poured in, done at the same time, bonded and stable. It is a raw casting, meaning it is unpainted, not seam-cleaned, and has sprues. The crack in its side is NOT damage, it is in the mold, from the original sculpey model. There is even some silicone rubber still in the crack. Due to age, it is yellowed.
