Rare Civil War Soldier Ambrotype photo image

This was purchased at a tag sale a long time ago. The information I was given might or might not be correct but I was told this is an ambrotype image of a Civil War Union soldier from around 1860 with a military musket, great coat and soldier hat. The top of the hat has a horn with an F on top and 3 letters under, but they're not clear, maybe VHN? The soldier has hand colored pink cheeks. Other other than the hat letters it's really clear, you can see all the details well. There's thin rubs to the image around the edge. I didn't take the glass completely out of the metal frame but I looked under the metal and the glass looks complete. Out of the case, it is 2 3/4" x 3 1/4" and that includes the metal frame around the glass. The hinged case is 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" and is in nice shape, no big chips or cracks and the hinges are good. There's a paper lining inside of the case that says: Littlefield, Parsons & Co., Manufacteres of Daguerreotype Cases and has dates of 1856 and 1857, the other side is velvet lined.
