This is really a fabulous piece of British pottery in the \'Bizarre\" pattern made by Clarice Cliff. This is one of her earliest pieces dating back to the Art Deco period of 1928-1936 as you can see from the \"back stamp\". The pattern is \"Double V\" and it is hand painted in vivid, bright, bold colors of orange, green, blue and black.
This particular pattern does not come out very often and is highly sought after.
The plate is 9 inches round and is 1/2 inch high. This is such a beautiful and rare find, however it does have 2 flaws. There is a very tiny chip on the top where the orange border meets the black line, it is so tiny... there is also a spot on one of the blue areas that seems to have a slight film on it and could need to be cleaned off which will I will not chance.
