Rare David Andersen Antique Silver, Gold & Enamel Solje Brooch, 14.2 G, C1900 For Sale
Rare DAVID ANDERSEN Antique Silver, Gold & Enamel SOLJE Brooch, 14.2 g, c1900Stunning silver and enamel „Solje“ (Søljer or Slje) brooch by David Andersen, probably dating from approximately 1900, perhaps even earlier. This is an exquisite example with a soft gold wash, formed of two dome shaped buttons, joined by a filigree ornament. The centres of the buttons are decorated with finely enamelled “star” shapes and tiny leaves in turquoise, royal blue, black, coral red and soft orange. Filigree, braided bands and delicate flowers sweep around the buttons, completing this beautiful design.Lovely solid weight, with an eye catching size. Immaculate workmanship - excellently crafted and of high quality - it would be a wonderful gift and certainly a very fine addition to a collection!Size (without pin): 5 x 2.4 x 1 cm (1.97 x 0.94 x 0.39 inches)Weight: 14.2 gHallmarked: David Andersen anvil symbol (used from 1888 until 1925), 830 Condition: this is in very good condition, with only the slightest signs of use, commensurate with age. The turquoise drops around the central stars have some very, very tiny nibbles and the enamel in one of the star tips is missing (see photos 3 & 5) but this would be almost invisible when the brooch is worn. The pin is very slightly misshapen, but no other damage, dents or dings. The brooch hasn’t been polished in any way, as it has acquired the most beautiful patina over the many years.Very interesting and useful information regarding the purpose and tradition of Solje (Sølje or Slje) brooches can be found under the following send my items immediately upon receiving payment and am happy to combine shipping wherever possible! The a/m postage fee includes a signed-for and insured tracking service.Kindly note that I can only accept PayPal from UK and overseas/non-european buyers - thank you for your consideration! Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any further questions concerning payment from abroad.Applicable tax and custom fees (on which I sadly have no influence) for overseas and non-european buyers, should be borne in mind when offerding. Please take a look at the other vintage and antique items I have listed - you might find something else of interest!
