Rare Victorian sterling silver thimble with unusual web-like interlocking daisy pattern top over a border chased with blackberry leaves and fruit on a textured background. Flat turn over rim. Made by Francis Webb formerly of Great Hampton Street, Birmingham. Hallmarked in the border: F.W (for Francis Webb ), the lion passant for sterling silver, the date letter lower case Old English "v" for 1895 and the Birmingham Assay Office anchor mark. Some scratches on the rim but otherwise in excellent condition - in round and free of holes, dents and damage. Height approx. 2.2 cm; internal base diameter approx 1.6 cm; weight 5.3 grams.
Comes complete with cream coloured hinged jeweller's shaped celluloid thimble case. Push button catch. Lined with blue velvet and cream silk on which is printed the retailing jeweller's details: J. CALLLOW & SON, WATCHMAKERS & JEWELLERS, 2 PARLIAMENT STREET, RAMSEY (Isle of Man).
