Superb Georgian sterling silver butter scoop / server, fully hallmarked for London 1799.
This is a lovely silver butter scoop made in the reign of King George III by George Smith and Thomas Hayter in London 1799.
The scoop has a shield shaped bowl with fine wrigglework decoration and leaves.
The server has a silver stem and a lovely polished handle.
The scoop is 1-3/4 inches / 45 mm wide and 7-3/8 inches / 188 mm long. It weighs 37 grams.
The silver has clear hallmarks - lion passant, London mark, duty mark, letter D for 1799 and maker's mark GS over TH for George Smith and Thomas Hayter.
Thescoopis in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.
