I\'m very pleased to offer this very rare locality Almandine crystal from Valle de Trinidad, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. This sharp single crystal measures 1.00 x .87 x .76 inches or 2.55 x 2.22 x 1.93cm and is in excellent condition. This is a specimen from the late David W. Reynolds (1946-2015) collection of San Jose, CA. I purchased his collection from his estate last year. I had never heard of this locality before and when I looked up the location on mindat.org I was very surprised to learn that the locality has been lost since the 1960s when the late great John Sinkankas collected here and wrote about it for the Lapidary Journal magazine. Based on the low number on the specimen I would bet that Mr. Reynolds acquired this in the 1960s. This should be considered a very scarce locality piece and I will add a photo of this specimen to the mindat.org database though it may take a day or two for the photo and my information to be approved. When I was a kid I had two types of heroes other than my father---professional athletes like Dick Butkus and Henry Aaron and science-related heroes like authors Bob Jones and John Sinkankas. Thus, a large smile crossed my face when reading the information about this locality on mindat.org. Please check my response and my other items.
