For sale this week is this medieval tailors silver sewing ring / thimble c. 14th - 16th century AD. It is formed similar to beehive thimbles but has the top removed to form a ring. Open-topped thimbles are associated with tailors so it is likely this thimbles once belonged to a tailor. Silver thimbles from the medieval period are rare, around 95% excavated thimbles tend to be made from bronze. A rare and unusual ancient silver thimble, ideal for the serious collector!
