Rare Napoleonic Era American Naval Officer's Dirk Dagger Circa War Of 1812:
Rare early example of the American Navy officer's dirk dating from the Napoleonic era of early 1800s, a very large dirk compare to most examples of the period, wearing a long sturdy blade of two stage style, staring out being oval in cross section with fine engraved panoplies and war trophies, depicting American striped Flags on each side, further with struck star like designs near the middle where the blade becomes of somewhat diamond section for the rest of the length. Blade exhibits nice original patina and areas of pitting, a very robust and deadly blade of significant length and combat qualities. Fine brass furniture retaining most of its gold gilt finish and with a carved ebony grip in undamaged condition. Solid overall and is a valuable addition to any American weapons collector.overall 16 1/2" blade 11 1/2".
