RARE NY OFFICERS BELT PLATE:

Extremely rare New York Officers belt plate on its original sword belt with hangers. I bought this many years ago from Norm Flayderman when he was still in Connecticut. A few years ago an article was written by Daniel J. Binder in NorthSouth Trader magazine in which he states that at the time the article was written he knew of fewer than 6 specimans in existence. These plates were definitely not mass produced and were only made in a very limited quantity. He also stated that this particular plate is much scarcer than most Confederate plates. Mr. Binder would certainly know for he is an authority and has done his research. Now to my plate.... It is on its original old and somewhat crusty and flaky belt rig. The plate has never been polished. It remains in its original untouched condition. The silver wreath and roman block NY letters are most likely coin silver and are applied to the gold washed brass plate which has a lovely stippled background. There is not really much more I can say about this beautiful plate. The pictures I have taken will further describe it for me. This is your chance to own a Civil War relic that is truly rare.
