Rare Olga Lee Baughman Elements Modernist Hand Printed Textile Fabric Anton Maix:
Very rare early 1950s printed textile designed by Olga Lee Baughman, then wife of Milo Baughman. "Elements" pattern printed by L. Anton Maix, NYC, ca 1952. Wonderful abstracted fruit shapes printed on natural Belgian linen, large piece measures 34.5" long x 52" wide (printed area is 50" wide). Fabric retains original Frederic & Nelson tag. I'm not sure if this was a large sales sample or if it was meant to be a table runner or small table cloth, it is finished on both cut ends. There is a price of $9.00 noted on the tag, perhaps this was the cost per yard.
Excellent condition, clean with no stains or other damage, a remarkable survivor. Please enlarge the photos for a good survey and let me know if you have questions--offered at . Thanks for looking and good luck!
