Rare Original Lighter "37 Aero Squadron, U.s. Air Service, 1917 France" 3 1/4" For Sale
Rare Original World War 1 cigarette lighter, engraved "Otto L. Johnson, 37 Aero Sqdn, U.S. Air Service, 1917 France". It measures 3 1/4" high and 1" in diameter. It is made of a machined steel, brass and copperbullet case, which is threaded to open up the lighter. It is in nice used condition with no wick or flint. There is some rust in the very top inside of the bullet and a small chip in the black section at the top, visible in the photos. This piece was finely made and is of such nice quality that I would venture to guess it is a real bullet . No manufacturer name on it, so it could have been made in the 37th Aero Squadron's shop. This is a great example of early military aviation history.
